A female Kalij Pheasant (Lophura leucomelanos) is foraging on the ground among forest vegetation. Its brown plumage has pale margins that create a distinctive scalloped or scaled pattern across the body. Bare red skin around the eye and face, including the red facial lappet, is visible as the bird searches the ground. The pheasant moves through the forest floor while looking for food.
