What a slice of every-day life on a Himalayan alpine meadow, with shepherds and their huge flocks of sheep out to graze. Sheep flock together in a rolling green alpine meadow or buggyal pastureland in the high Himalaya of Garhwal. The sheep actually end up doing a lot of damage in the meadows, as they close crop and eat up the Himalayan flowers, and do not let them reach seeding, compressing the ground, preventing water seepage into the meadow soil, and ruining soil aeration as well. They also dump enormous amounts of sheep litter poop onto the meadow, making it very acidic for some plants, and encouraging other invasive species to thrive! Nonetheless, this is a lovely bucolic view of the Himalaya with sheep, shepherds and a small trekker's tent. Shepherd's campsite in dreamy idyllic Himal
