Tree Pipit is a winter visitor that also breeds in North-West Himalayas. Buffish brown to greyish ground color to upperparts (lacking greenish-olive cast of the Olive-backed pipit), and buffish edges to wing feathers. Head pattern less prominent. A.t.haringtoni, which breeds in NW, generally colder and greyer than the widespread wintering nominate Anthus trivialis. Voice : Call is harsh teez. Song is louder and far-carrying, ending in finch-like trill chik-chik....chia-chia-wich-wich-tsee-a-tsee-a-tsee-a Habitat : Breeds on grassy slopes at tree-line; winters in fallow cultivation and open country.
