An adult White-breasted Waterhen (Amaurornis phoenicurus) carefully watches over its young chick within dense marsh vegetation at the Wilderness Orchard in Delhi. The parent bird’s bright white breast contrasts sharply against the surrounding green aquatic plants, while the small fuzzy black chick remains partially hidden among the shadows and floating vegetation. The pair move cautiously through the wetland habitat as the chick learns to forage and navigate the marsh environment under the guidance of the adult bird. White-breasted Waterhens are generally shy wetland birds commonly found near ponds, marshes, and reed-covered water bodies across South Asia. The footage captures parental care behaviour, chick development, and wetland bird activity within an urban natural habitat.
