Filmed here at an altitude of 17, 600 feet, this is one bird which has excellent oxygenation in its lungs and is not scared of the cold, wind and high, desolate places! In north Sikkim's Gurudongmar lake, the Redstart is surrounded by flowering Edelweiss and Inula daisies, with the icy glacial waters of the lake behind it. A large redstart with an elongated build and upright posture. Adult male is black with a white cap and orange belly. Namesake white wing patch is only present in the males; its true extent only becomes visible in flight. Female is a warm brown with darker wings and an orange tail; her size and posture differentiate her from other plain female redstarts.
