Ms. Bulbul is a textile technician that deals with the post-harvest technological aspect or producing Muga silk. Muga silk is indigenous to Assam. She deals with the cooking is reeling off the cocoon. The Muga cocoon has a natural gum called 'Sericin'. As is it difficult to remove this gum of the cocoon, an alkali solution is used for cooking the cocoon. The villagers lack the knowledge of the use of alkali to extract the fiber. The higher quality of alkali deteriorates the quality of silk.
