Muga silk is the main product in the weaving industry from Assam. Muga silk is extracted from the cocoon of the endemic silkworm from Assam. In Assam, it's a wedding ritual to present the bride with Muga silk saree. During Bihu, women are supposed to wear a dress comprising of 'Mekhela & Chadar'. The unique thing about Muga is the colour never fades.
