Sitting by the river, offering fruit to the sun god and singing together, these women celebrate the Chatt festival. It must be cold water even though this is the end of the monsoon season, especially if you're taking a dunk into it while wearing a saree, and the water is not clean either. The Yamuna is one of the most polluted rivers in the world. Women stand on the river bank, with lit incense sticks in their hands, in knee or waist deep water, to pray to the sun god.
