With the landscape covered in the Indian flag tri-colours, is truly is an abode of clouds. Tucked away in the hills of eastern sub-Himalayas is Meghalaya, one of the most beautiful State in the country. Nature has blessed her with abundant rainfall, sun-shine, virgin forests, high plateaus, tumbling waterfalls, crystal clear rivers, meandering streamlets and above all with sturdy, intelligent and hospitable people. It is bounded on the north and east by the Indian state of Assam and on the south and west by Bangladesh. The state capital is the hill town of Shillong, located in east-central Meghalaya. Meghalaya—alaya (“abode”) and megha (“of the clouds”)—occupies a mountainous plateau of great scenic beauty. It became a state in 1972. Internal communications are poor, and many areas remain
