The banks of the Ganges or Ganga in Haridwar is an important pilgrimage site for thousands of Hindu devotees every year. Devotees offer coins and precious metals into the river as offerings for a better afterlife. While the privileged offer gold coins it is down to these residents living on the banks of the river to fish for the metals and make a living. And when better than during the Maha Kumbh Mela 2021 which will see the largest congregation of devotees on the banks of the holy river.
