Flocks of Demoiselle Cranes (Anthropoides virgo) gather in large numbers at Khichan in Rajasthan, feeding on grains and moving together across open fields. Villagers scatter food as the cranes call, land, and take off in waves. The song “Kurja Come Home” follows their journey back to this seasonal refuge. This children’s song is inspired by the annual migration of Demoiselle Cranes, which travel thousands of kilometers across Central Asia to winter in Rajasthan, especially in Khichan village. Known for their slender build and long-distance flights, these cranes return every year in large flocks.
