Crowds of Hindu pilgrims descend from the Himalayan cave shrine of Amarnath in Jammu and Kashmir state of India, some walking and others on ponies. The high altitude mountainscapes and the Himalayan birch forests seem to go unappreciated, as they battle the altitude, distance and tiredness. Some opt to drink water from a makeshift spring that emanates from the muddy hillside. Despite that, the water is probably clean and reasonably potable, the odd eColi bacteria aside!
