Dzulhami Village Cultural Troupe representing Chakhesang tribe of Nagaland presenting a festival song during Hornbill Festival, Kisama Heritage village, Nagaland. The Chakhesangs celebrates seven festivals in a year, Sukrunye being the most important festival starting in January and Tsukhenyie in March. The word Sukrunye is a combination of two words, "Sukru" where rituals are performed when a new house is constructed and the word "nye" meaning festival. During this time the men folk go for community bird-catching and snaring which are later hung on the decorated tip of a tall bamboo. It is believed that the different kinds of birds caught foretell the fortune of a person's future.
