A female Purple Sunbird is seen resting and looking out from her pendulous hanging nest in a garden in Delhi. Purple Sunbirds are small nectar-feeding birds commonly found across the Indian subcontinent. Their nests are remarkable structures made from plant fibers, leaves, spider webs, and other lightweight materials, carefully woven together to form a hanging pouch-like home. The female sunbird builds the nest on her own and is responsible for incubating the eggs and raising the chicks. These nests usually hang from thin branches, wires, or garden plants, helping protect the young from predators.
