This unsettling footage documents an intense encounter with blood-sucking land leeches (Class: Hirudinea), commonly found in humid forest ecosystems during the monsoon season. The sequence begins with a leech visibly attached between the toes of a leg, feeding silently before being noticed. As the camera continues rolling, multiple leeches can be seen actively moving across damp forest soil, fallen leaves, and decomposing organic matter—conditions that are ideal for their survival and mobility. Further shots reveal leeches crawling over gumboots, instinctively searching for exposed skin or small cavities through which they can latch onto a host. These hematophagous invertebrates rely on heat, vibration, and carbon dioxide to detect mammals, making humans particularly vulnerable during trek
