Ready to fledge and abandon their nest, these crow chicks are fully grown, and can barely fit into their earlier digs. They flap their wings in eager anticipation of their first flight and journey into the world. Mother crow comes along and stuffs the hungry upward-facing gapes of the hungry chicks - all mouths they are! Those wings look more like flippers and those necks look terribly weak and unsupported. Bare unprotected chicks with no feathers and their eyes shut, exposed to the world in a flimsy nest high above traffic. And yet they will survive and their numbers will grow in this world...
