The President's Bodyguards give a magnificent salute on horses in honor of the President of India. The parade along with equestrian skills how marks the anniversary of the honorary service by President's Bodyguards. In the year 1923, the then Viceroy of India, Lord Reading, first conferred the distinction, when the bodyguard had completed 150 years of honorable service. Each successive Viceroy thereafter, presented a Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the bodyguard. This practice turned into a traditional ceremony over time and has been continued by the successive serving Presidents of India. The title of PBG also came along after independence in the year 1950.
