The President's Bodyguards perform equestrian skills show at the Silver Trumpet ceremony, in celebration of the glory and commitment of the seniormost unit of the Indian Army. The ceremony that is held with every serving President of India, marks the 240th anniversary of the regiment this year in 2013 when it was held on 30th of March, In the year 1923, the then Viceroy of India, Lord Reading, first conferred the distinction, when the bodyguard had completed 150 years of honorable service. Each successive Viceroy thereafter, presented a Silver Trumpet and Trumpet Banner to the bodyguard. This practice turned into a traditional ceremony over time and has been continued by the successive serving Presidents of India. The title of PBG also came along after independence in the year 1950.
