This is the heart-warming story of an elephant that fell into a deep well in India, and lived to tell the tale. Imagine the splash it must have made on getting to the bottom, and the shock the poor pachyderm must have gone through, to fall into the earth! Anyway, alert villagers came and saw what happened, and while it became a bit of a carnival, they also informed the forest department and other authorities, and everyone came up with the smart plan of calling in a bulldozer and excavating a steep path down to the well, to hoist the elephant out of the well. Otherwise, you can imagine how tough it would have been to vertically lift an elephant weighing a few tonnes from deep in the well!
