A Nilgiri wood pigeon (Columba elphinstonii) is observed in the forested region of Munnar. This large pigeon species is endemic to the Western Ghats and inhabits moist evergreen forests. The bird shows characteristic plumage with a distinct neck pattern and robust body structure. It remains perched within dense vegetation, typical of its preference for forest canopy and mid-level branches. The surrounding habitat includes thick foliage and high humidity conditions.
