Mt. Swargarohini was first climbed in the summer of 1990, and ot is subject to discussion whether Swedish Climber Ake Nilsson was the first to ascend or the expedition from the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering. Here, an ITBP expedition (Indo Tibetan Border Police) follows suit in June 1990 with the wildfilmdindia camera crew in tow. We follow them up to a 19, 000 foot ridge below the main (western) summit, a rock buttress of most beautiful proportions. We follow the climbers as they gambol around Camp One and then follow up the south-west summit ridge to the col that divides the two summits of Swargarohini of the Ladder to Heaven, from where the Pandavas are said to have ascended to heaven at the end of the Mahabharata, along with their black dog!
