A majestic Gaur, also known as the Indian bison, partially obscured by tall green grasses within the rich wilderness of Manas National Park. The gaur is the largest species of wild cattle in the world and one of the most powerful herbivores found in the forests and grasslands of South Asia. The animal can be seen moving or grazing through dense vegetation in a misty grassland and woodland habitat typical of Assam’s protected national parks. Towering grasses, scattered trees, and the humid forest atmosphere create an ideal environment for large herbivores like gaur, elephants, and deer species.
