Heavy rains have triggered flash floods in at least four villages of Leh district in Jammu and Kashmir. However, no casualties have been reported so far. As per media reports, several houses and property were damaged, amounting to substantial loss. In span of 48 hours Leh district has recorded 24.6 mm of rain. According to Meteorology Division in India, a fresh Western Disturbance is over North Pakistan and adjoining Jammu and Kashmir which has caused the rainfall activity over the district. And, we expect light to moderate rain to continue for next 24 to 48 hours that will further worsen the situation.
