Panna National Park used to be the private hunting grounds of the royal family of Panna, Chhatarpur and Bijawar. Ruler used to take the pleasure in hunting wild animals from their hunting lodges that are still present inside the Panna National Park. Panna is a city and a municipality in Panna district in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. It is famous for its diamond mines. It is the administrative center of Panna District. Panna was a Gond settlement until the 13th century. When the Gondi were defeated by the Chandelas they migrated to other parts of Madhya Pradesh. Until that date, there were many rulers of the area.
