This footage captures the nesting behavior of the Brahminy Starling (Sturnia pagodarum), a striking resident bird species of the Indian subcontinent. The bird is seen using a hollow in a tree trunk as its nesting cavity, repeatedly entering and exiting the hole. On several occasions, the starling returns with insects held in its beak, clearly indicating active chick-feeding behavior or preparation during the breeding phase. Brahminy Starlings are secondary cavity nesters, meaning they depend on natural hollows or abandoned cavities created by woodpeckers and barbets. Such cavities are essential for successful breeding, offering protection from predators and harsh weather.
