Huge herd of Barasingha deer in a field in Assam, India. These deer, both young stags-in-velvet and hinds, are the DEER {probably the SWAMP DEER, Cervus duvauceli duvauceli, and not Cervus branderii OR Rucervus duvaucelii OR 'Cervus branderii-branderii'..........These are the slushy-soft ground and jheel Barasinghas of Dudhwa and the JHEEL south of it}. They are very common only in Kaziranga and Bor Bheel and such bheel jheel riverain-either-side-Brahmaputra-Dhansiri swampy areas, NOT the Kanha-Kicchli Maidans. According to Wikipedia, "The Barasingha or Swamp deer (Rucervus duvaucelii) is a deer species currently found in isolated localities in north and central India, and southwestern Nepal, and is extinct in Pakistan and Bangladesh.
