With its natter white and black tail, this Spotted Forktail dances as the monsoon rains come to the hills of the lower Himalaya. Monsoon blues is what this Spotted Forktail has, but it remains spunky beside our trout pond, on the prowl for water insects. What a natter bird the forktail is, with the demeanour and movements of a ballerina! The elegant tail is held high and periodically wiggled around to provide a nice contrasty black and white look! It overturns leaves at the moist edges of our Bindal-Rispana stream which is birthed in the wildfilmsindia sanctuary at Pari Tibba, and this stream goes on to feed the Dehradun valley below, until they turn it into an open sewer... With much chutzpah and elan, the Forktail snaps up the insects, molluscs and grubs it finds while overturning leaves
