Tiny Baby Elephant rescued from dry well in India's Andhra Pradesh state

It was a providential escape for a baby elephant, which fell into a 30-feet deep dried-up farm well after straying into the fields from forests at Chikkapalle Thanda hamlet of Veernamala panchayat of Ramakuppam mandal, 30 km from Kuppam, on Sunday. The one-year-old baby emerged into the fields on Saturday midnight along with a 18-member herd of wild elephants. The baby strayed from its mother and fell into the well. From midnight till dawn of Sunday, the baby kept making agonized sounds from the deep. The angry herd trampled standing horticulture crops around the well, helplessly looking at the baby. The forest officials from Kuppam and Chittoor rushed to the village around 6 a.m. and immediately deployed a JCB machine. After a four -hour long operation, a parallel slope was dug from surfa
