In the forests of Kabini Reserve, a quiet scene unfolds around a small waterhole where a herd of spotted deer (Axis axis) is scattered across the clearing. Some graze peacefully while others lower their heads to drink from the still water, the soft light giving the moment a calm and natural rhythm. The atmosphere shifts when a Bengal tiger (Panthera tigris tigris) steps out from the tree line and walks toward the water’s edge. With slow, deliberate movements, the tiger positions itself on one side of the waterhole and begins stalking the deer. The relaxed gathering turns tense as the herd senses the predator’s presence, transforming the peaceful clearing into a charged predator–prey moment.
