Mithun is a very auspicious animal and used in animal sacrifice ritual during Reh Festival. The Reh festival is an important festival of Idu Mishmi tribe of Arunachal Pradesh which is celebrated in the month of January/February every year. Mithun, also known as ‘Cattle of Mountain” is an important bovine species of north-eastern hill region of India and also of China, Myanmar, Bhutan and Bangladesh.
