An overview of the trek to Roopkund Lake through the meadows of Ali and Bedni buggyal in the Garhwal Himalaya. A khacher or mule carries rations and loads for our wildfilmsindia team that was visiting Roopkund for the seventh time in two decades last year. Nanda Ghunti and Trishul peaks can be seen in the backdrop, as our gyro-stabilized camera follows the porters up, and a village speep dog that has also decided to accompany us for a post of food and warmth. The snow line is very high as this is in the early winter season when little precipitation has been received after the monsoons. Crossing moraines and old rock fall debris to get to Roopkund Lake, the path ever rises through the dry grassy meadows.
