A poor monsoon led this entire flamingo colony to abandon their nests, eggs and chicks and drop the entire breeding season. Now how much sadder a sight can there be? The Phoenicopterous minor or Lesser Flamingo is a species in the Flamingo family of birds found in the Little Rann of Kutch. In spite of the fact that numerous species of the flamingo, they are classified as near -- threatened. The reason being that they are declining in population and have very few breeding sites. Human activities are a major reason for the slow but sure disappearance of the flamingos. This video shows one such breeding site in the Little Rann of Kutch filmed in January 2012.
