Busily scouting out a wetland for fish and molluscs, this pair of Painted Storks efficiently covers a large area with its beak open and sieving and lifting prey. A large stork with a long yellow bill that curves down at the tip resembling an Ibis. The adults have a yellow-orange mask and pinkish legs. The plumage is primarily white with black striped markings on the wings. The tail tips are also black with bright pink on tertials. These storks typically fly with their head and neck drooping almost at or below the belly level. Often seen near water bodies such as wetlands, marshes, and flooded agricultural fields.
