Like long fierce orange creatures that cut across the darkness, forest fires in Uttarakhand still raged before they finally got extingushed by the ample monsoon rains in the summer of 2024. Cruving around the hillside and across the forestscapes of the western Himalaya, and mostly during the dry breeding season months of hill wildlife, they cause the maximum damage to the forest and mountain species of birds and animals alike.
