During Kanwar Yatra, devotees not only place statues of Lord Shiva on car roofs or decorated platforms but also create vibrant thematic setups that reflect their devotion. Many Kanwariyas craft beautifully adorned kanwars using bamboo, thermocol, colorful cloth, LED lights, flowers, and religious symbols. Some yatris design moving tableaux (jhankis) depicting scenes from Shiva Purana, the Ganga descent, or Kailash. Others build portable Shiv temples, mini Trishul installations, and Rudraksha-decorated frames. Groups often decorate handcarts and vehicles with saffron flags, devotional slogans, portraits of Shiva family, and illuminated arches.
