This innocuous even pretty looking dam is actually the usurper of villages and rice fields, as it submerged large swathes of prime human habitat and Himalayan valley floor space, in the march for human greed and need. Juddo dam Hathiyari - Uttarakhand is now a land of dams, endangering riverine systems, with earthquake risk to boot 420MW Lakhwar-Vyasi Power Project in Juddo Lakhwar-Vyasi Hydro Power Project comprises of two dams - the 192-meter high Lakhwar Multipurpose 300 MW dam at Lohari and a 80-meter high Vyasi dam of 120 MW at Juddo. The construction of the projects started in 1987 and have been mired in controversy, amid environmental issues and concerns.
