This video shows a leech (जोंक / Jonk) found in Jabarkhet, Mussoorie, moving across muddy ground and wet stones in a moist forest environment. Leeches are commonly seen in the Himalayan forests during the monsoon season, where high humidity, shade, and damp soil create ideal conditions for them. The clip highlights the leech’s unique looping or inching movement, made possible by two suckers—one at the front and one at the rear. By attaching and releasing these suckers alternately, the leech moves efficiently even on slippery mud and stones. Leeches feed on blood and are attracted to warmth, vibration, and carbon dioxide, though their bite is usually painless. Their presence indicates a healthy, moisture-rich forest ecosystem, making Jabarkhet an ideal natural habitat for such invertebrates
