In a breakthrough, our Grey Hornbill couple seems to have won the battle of occupancy at this tree trunk near a busy traffic intersection at Saket in south Delhi. The female has made a triumphal entry into the hollow and the fresh shoots on the acacia branches are just in time. Neem leaves offered to the female, as an organic fungicide! Wow - what a fabulous story. These are placed at the bottom of the nest hole to prevent the eggs from being attacked by any insects or fungus. The male is also filmed feeding leaves and offering tree bark to the female. Must be some mating ritual we are unaware of.
