Devotees with pink turbans chant slogans and beat drums as they march into the venue of Bagwal Mela celebrations in Devidhura, Uttarakhand. They sport wooden shields decorated in flowers. Devotees brave the rains to watch the game of pelting stones held on the day of Rakshabandhan at Maa Barahi Devi temple. Bagwal Mela is held every year on the day of Raksha Bandhan with a game of pelting stones at each other. It is played by members of four communities. The participants are stationed at opposite ends with small pebbles. They use wooden shields to protect themselves from the stones coming from the opponent's side.
