Pilgrims gathered along the mist-covered shoreline during the Gangasagar Mela in Sagar Island. Many devotees dressed in saffron and traditional clothing are seen standing near the water during the early morning winter conditions common in mid-January. The gathering takes place at the confluence of the Ganges River and the Bay of Bengal, where pilgrims perform the ritual holy dip known as Sagar Snan during Makar Sankranti. Dense fog and mist cover the shoreline while flags and tall poles mark campsites and religious gathering points across the mela grounds. The video documents the atmosphere and religious activity associated with one of India’s largest pilgrimage events.
