Sankey Tank is a manmade lake, situated in the western part of Bangalore. Spread across an area of 37.5 acres near Vyalikaval, Malleshwaram and Sadashivanagar, it is one of the most popular places to hang out in Bangalore. Sankey Tank is a perfect place for nature lovers who can enjoy stress-free moments in the refreshing and calm surrounding. This large body of water is a source of attraction for not only locals, but also for the tourists coming to Bangalore. The State Forest Department takes care of the lake. This artificial tank was built in the year 1882 under the administration of Colonel Richard Hieram Sankey of the Madras Sappers Regiment.
