Natural disasters are extreme forces of nature that result in the death and destruction of lives of people and property. Cyclones, floods, droughts, forest fires, landslides, tsunami, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions are some commonly occurring natural disasters. When water in a waterbody or any area rises above its normal level, i.e. it overflows, it leads to a condition called floods. Usually large amounts of uncontrolled rain, or excessive melting of snow can cause floods in rivers. Floods often kill people and animals. Many waterborne diseases can spread in times of floods. Drought is exactly the opposite of flood. It is a continuous period of extremely dry weather when rainfall is very much below normal for months or even for years. Drought occurs due to dry seasons in the tropics
