Chambal Badlands of central India are one of the most extensive badlands in the world, and are one of the four severely dissected landscapes within the Middle Alluvial Ganga Plains. About 80km from Agra, Chambal Valley is situated at the convergence of three states: Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. The 900km Chambal River is the chief tributary of the Yamuna, originating in the Vindhyas of Madhya Pradesh and flowing from there into Rajasthan until it empties into the Yamuna in UP. A major feature of the semi-arid region is its deep, winding gorges or ravines caused by extreme soil erosion. The Chambal badlands are among the most extensive in the world, its labyrinths of ravines, spread across three states, giving generations of dacoits a place to hide. Source: cntraveller This
