A baby girl born with a 'trunk' has become the center of attraction in a village in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The family gave her name Laxmi. People are flocking to see her believing that she is an incarnation of Lord Ganesha. Ganesha is always portrayed with an elephant’s head, he is the personification of all intellectual activities, his large head and tummy symbolize his ability to store a large amount of knowledge (hence the proverbial “memory of an elephant”), his large ears gather information, and his long trunk can seek out knowledge even in the most inaccessible places. The child has a protuberance between her two eyes which people believe resembles the trunk of Lord Ganesha.
