On the demise of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II in 1895, a new cremation site was established on a plateau that is just a few hundred yards outside the fort's northern gate. The site is dominated by a marble building known as Jaswant Thada. Though named in the honour of Jaswant Singh, and commissioned by his widow, this building is, in fact, a sort of Rathore Vahalla, commemorating the entire dynasty.
