Amidst heavy downpour, devotees gather outside the Maa Barahi Devi Temple in Devidhura, Uttarakhand. The participants of the festival shout and jump in anticipation of the action to follow. Devotees and tourists are gathered to witness this unusual festival of stones in India. The Bagwal Mela is celebrated along with Bandhan in India. The main event of the festival is marked by pelting of stones against each other. The groups participating in the event use broad wooden shield to protect themselves from the oncoming small pebbles from the other end. However, injuries sustained in this event is considered an auspicious occasion.
