The atmosphere of Kathi village in Akkalkuwa Tehsil of Nandurbar is overwhelming with enthusiasm for traditional Rajawadi Holi. Thousands of tribal men and women in traditional attires dance to the tunes of folk instruments around the bonfire and sing their folk songs in praise of Tribal King Raja Umedsingh, who had established the Kathi princely state of Tribals back in 1246 AD. Rajwadi Holi, arguably the oldest Holi celebration of tribal people in India, completed 770 years on 2019. More than 1 lakh tribals from Maharashtra, Gujrat, Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh gather at Kathi for the festival that is being celebrated in the unchanged for
