Planting bare-root Paeonia ‘Candy Stripe’ peonies inside a greenhouse tunnel at the Wild Films India Jabbarkhet Botanical Arboretum in Uttarakhand. One worker loosens and prepares the soil with a hand hoe while another holds a bag of peony roots ready for planting. A close-up reveals bright green and pink buds, known as eyes, emerging from the bare roots. Bare-root peonies are planted during dormancy, with the eyes positioned just below the soil surface to support healthy spring growth. The greenhouse cover shelters the developing plants from cold weather and rain on the mountain slope.
