Gangaur is celebrated in Rajasthan to honour the divine union of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati (also known as Gauri). The festival is a celebration of marital bliss, harvest, and the coming of spring. Women, particularly, observe Gangaur with great devotion, seeking blessings for a happy married life and the well-being of their husbands. This is a women's festival where women carry earthen pots with holes and lit lamps within. The procession is a significant part of the celebrations.
