This video gives us an insight on the jewl of Indian soil, Rajasthan. From epic forts and wildlife encounters to rich and colourful fetivals, Rajasthan has alot to offer. It's Gangaur Festival is one of the most vivid festivals and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and customs. It's the festival for the goddess of abundance, Gauri or Parvati, the consort of lord Shiva. During the festivities, married women worship Parvati for the long life of their spouse while unmarried ones pray for a loving and caring husband/lover. The festival begins on the very 1st day of the Hindu month of Chaitra, the day after Holi, marking the end of the cold winter season and the onset of spring. Married and unmarried women keep a "vrat" or fast for the duration of this festival where they eat only once a day.
